a dreamy donut

Good days start with a donut.
(I should have that embroidered)
Well yesterday didn't start with just any donut...
it started with a dream donut.

I've been on a donut search since we've got here.
The first donuts I tried tasted like they were made in a taco wagon.
The second donuts were authentic but completely soaked in grease.
But this donut... it was perfectly glazed and filled with bavarian cream and fresh strawberries.
Now that's a donut worth dying for. Am I right?

And if that meal wasn't perfect enough
later that evening we went out for dinner at Callahans Grille and Pub
It's situated in beautiful downtown Enid.
We were impressed with they're friendly service and authentic Indian food.
My favorite restaurant thus far....

Coral and Mint

One month until my birthday folks.
23 will be an interesting year. Full of changes.
Hopefully a lot of those changes will be to the wardrobe...
so if you're looking for my present, which duh I know most of you are,
here is your birthday hint of the day!

Basically anything from Ruche will do like this mint or coral top seen above...

Or anything from this outfit...

Your welcome!

hah.

Timing

What a day people. One of those days where nothing seems to go right.
Air force lost our travel vouchers which means we will not be receiving ANY money for another two weeks. No big deal stupid finance office, it's not like we're suppose to be moving into our house this week or buying a washer and dryer or you know, eating...

Buying this skirt definitely helped soothe the frustration.

But then, I found out that buying this puppy is impossible.

She was exactly what I wanted.
But it costs 500 dollars to bring her with me on my trip home this month.
And I can't leave her here for three weeks..soo I'll just have to find another puppy later on.
I was really bummed! Ahhh patience Courtney, I'm sure there is another perfectly adorable puppy waiting for you in good time.

Thursday just cannot come soon enough.
At least I have Bachelor Pad to make me feel better about life :)
hahaaaa that.is.so.sad.

Utah State

Today I should be starting another semester at USU. But I'm not... instead I'm in middle of nowhere Oklahoma. Although it's nice to not have that stomach sinking or first day jitters... I miss it! I just can't believe I'm done with college. I'm not that old.

What I'll miss about USU:
1. Seeing all my friends around campus
2. Stopping by the bookstore to buy a brand new school planner
3. Walking across the quad for class
4. Practicum... never thought I'd say that.
5. Hanging out in the costume shop with all my girlies.

Here comes Irene

Hello dream dress... why do you have to be over three hundred dollars?

Here's a picture of dear sister, soaking wet, fighting Hurricane Irene over in North Carolina. Is it weird that I'm kind of jealous she get's to experience it first hand? Yeah, I guess that's pretty wrong...
Would it make more sense if I told you that Twister was my favorite movie when I was eight?
I'm sure I'll eat my words soon.

check yourself before you wreck yourself

Nothing makes me happier than a good watermelon paired with steak, potatoes, and asparagus.

Today I decided it was time for Enid and I to have some one on one time...
So I drove around and met a couple of her thrift shops who were generous enough to give me some vintage skirts and a dress for a nice price.
Then I saw a nice part of Enid with really pretty homes and parks.
It gave me hope, hope that I might actually grow to love this place.

Oh and ONE WEEK UNTIL WE MOVE INTO OUR HOME! I stared at the floor plan for an hour today because I'm THAT excited.

Steamy

 Let the home shopping begin...
Today's obsession? Washer and Dryers.
This Samsung Steam Machine is on sale at Lowes and Ohhh am I tempted.
Please talk me out of it! Or tell me which one to get.
My head hurts.
Jake brought me home these goodies today. What a hunk.
He also finished in processing! So exciting.
His leg is doing much better, he's no longer using the crutches and
no spasms in a weeeeek... Enid is getting better.
Wilmington, NC however...
not so good.
Keep Lauren in your prayers!

Rollercoaster

What a day people, what a day. Jake and I were kicked out of our hotel room... again. Not only that but they told us we had to move off base. She was blatantly rude to Jake and wouldn't even look to see what rooms were available. All we got was a "nope, everything is full" and a kick out the door. That didn't fly with me... I was reeeally upset. Jake has probably never seen me that upset. The front desk must have felt my hate vibes from the room because when Jake showed up to check out she said there might be a room available. Yeah you better have a room available. I was two seconds away from stomping in there and telling you off! There was another bit of news that helped me recover... our house is going to be ready a week from Thursday! Hallelujah. This changes a lot of plans, including my trip back home! This is a crazy life. But it's nothing a little Braums ice cream and thrifting can't fix...

Vintage sewing table...? What do you think?

ARRRR

Man I love finding gems like these. Meet the Kearns family, pirate style.
Jakey is the buccaneer bottom right :)

We had a great weekend in Texas... more on that later. Goodnight!

1, 2, 3, Pin!

Nail painting and Dog training.
A great lazy Saturday.

Roses

Meet my niece and nephews.
They're a good time.
We went to an amazing place called Hard 8 BBQ. I have never seen so much meat in my life.
Having lots of fun in Dallas! The Rose family is the best...

CherryBerry

Nothing like some froyo to brighten up a day!
Jake and I are off to Texas for the weekend... so excited. I have never been.
The one thing I'm hoping to do? A short little shopping trip to a place called H and M.
YES PLEASE. Catch ya on the flip flop.

How many firemen does it take to fix a smoke detector?

Too many.

Jake and I's morning began at 5:30 am to the smoke alarm going off across the room.
Needless to say we were bugged. Real bugged. Sleep is precious around these parts and a faulty smoke alarm is the last thing we need!
But it stopped and we went back to sleep.
Forty-five minutes later it happened againnnnnn! So naturally we call the front desk and what does she do..? She calls the fire department.
Five minutes later four men and a truck showed up and replaced the alarm.
I should have taken that as a warning to stay in bed all day.

older, better, faster, stronger

Today was my little brother's fifteenth birthday. Wasn't I just fifteen? Making music videos with my friends... dreaming about my first kiss... learning to drive...gaining weight like crazy... yeah I don't miss it too much. But Kendall, he makes fifteen look pretty good. So Jake and I made him a little Kanye rap instead of the lame-o birthday song call. Kendall's a big Kanye fan.
Man we're bored. Don't judge us.

So this is Kendall at his best. Polo.. Golf Hat.. I'm a too cool teenager look. It's impossible to make this kid smile on camera. You wouldn't know it, but back in the day he spent his time watching Blue's Clues. He loved Steve and learned every move to the theme song. "Blue skadoo you can too!" Someday I'll get that video on here...
Girls, watch out. He's a six-foot-tall-soon-to-be-pro-golfer.

Lookin Up

Look who's back on track! Jakey boy killed it today and I'm like a proud momma (hence the first day of school picture, he loved it). And despite the billion ants in my car and broken car wash I got stuck in, we had a much much better day. Jake met with his commander who is a great guy. He reassured us they would get him to IFS as soon as possible. Both of us are so relieved! It's nice to see things getting brighter. It feels like we're finally turning a corner here in Oklahoma...  :)

Churchy Church

This commercial popped up the other day... pretty much made me pee my pants.
This is where I'm living. And there's plenty where that came from.
Today was a pretty good day! This is why...
This was Jacob at NINE O'CLOCK last night. Hollah! I was pretty excited... and needless to say he felt a lot better today. We were finally able to attend our new ward and had a great time. We needed it big time, its amazing how church can lift your spirits. The weather also seems to be cooling down a lot, which I LOVE! So here's to a better week :)

OK

After spending the weekend driving through Oklahoma I've learned quite a bit about this odd state.

1. There are pumpjacks everywhere.
2. They keep mounted garbage cans on the side of the freeway
3. Stillwater, OK has the very first Sonic Drive-in
4. Kingfisher, OK is the birthplace of Sam Walton
5. Enid is about the ugliest town in Oklahoma. Everywhere outside of here is green, hilly, and full of trees.

Our "getaway" to Oklahoma City didn't go as well as we'd hoped. Jake's leg really bothered him the entire trip. The Orthopedic doctor we saw in Stillwater told us that Jake will not be healed in time to attend his training that starts September 1st, which means his entire program will be pushed back. I just hope they can get him into the next one without trouble. Our massages went well but it didn't help him sleep, in fact it made it worse. So neither one of us were in the mood for any sort of shopping or sight seeing today. Hopefully we'll be able to go back soon and have a much better time! We've now moved into the motel on base which is a lot better than we expected. I just hope we don't have to move out again... Man do I miss home. Thank heavens for Krispy Kremes and Bluebell Rainbow Sherbet.

Hammys

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE not working. Seriously... I'm good at being lazy. But sometimes, just once in a while, I miss this place. Mostly the people... they were great. Never a dull moment. It's not enough to make me EVER want to wait tables again. Oh hammys...

Make It Work!

It's that time of year again..! PROJECT RUNWAY. Right in time too, I just finished Season 2 of Vampire Diaries and needed a new obsession. Man have I missed Heidi, Tim, and alllll of the drama!  That is drama in the name of Burt. I'm seriously disappointed Old Man... but Danielle and Anthony? I still have faith in you, and Oliver, he's cute in that awkward foreign way...

Just in case you were wondering, The Help was reeeally good.  I think the cast is perfection. They get you emotional on several occasions. I wish the movie would have followed the book more but, what can you do... It is definitely a must see. And a must read. Read first. Ohh Emma Stone, why can't we be besties?
She's bringing nerdy back.

Well..! Tomorrow we move out of the TLF and into a motel... hmmm. But not before we spend a night away in OKC at The Courtyard Marriott with a evening massage... Ahhhh... we totally need it.

The Gimp is Asleep.

Guess what comes out tomorrow...? The Help.
I think I'll grab some Butterfinger Minis and see the 4 o'clock show all by myself..!
Because I think it might be while until I let Jake be my movie partner again. That was just too stressful. And I intend to fully enjoy this movie. Every second.

Goodnight everyone... The doc finally prescribed Jake some Valium. If this doesn't get him to sleep then someone pleeease shoot me in the morning. I'll pay you.

Lightning

What a day...
It started with a pity party and progressed with some
on base homework and my first Oklahoma storm.
It really looked tornado worthy! Red dirt everywhere. 80 mph winds and
lighting every second! Exciting stuff.
Now it's ending with The Bachelor Pad and a delicious White Nectarine.
(nothing like some Jake and Vienna drama to make you feel better about your life)
The Husband and I made some major breakthroughs today. Hopefully it's sunny skies from now on!
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

P.S. I LOVE that Crazy and Crazy #2 are together.
Their poor children...

Boots for Me

I have an obsession with boots. I think every woman does.
Remember when I said online shopping had gotten the best of me?
Well I gave in and bought this pretty pair of boots.
Hopefully they don't let me down like my last pair from Delias.com
One thing is for sure, these make me even more desperate for fall!

Hope you're having a happy Sabbath! Jake and I are once again stuck indoors all day.
This is how we feel about it.
Oh, and go rent The Lincoln Lawyer. It's a good flick.

TLF my life

Temporary Lodging Facilities...
my prison for the past week.

I really shouldn't complain. I have internet. I have cable. I have free laundry ten steps away. But the fact that our house is sitting two minutes away... I just want to move out of here so bad! I'm just too excited. All I can think about is how I'm going to decorate and the cute little dog we're going to put in it. Because of Jake's leg we've been kept indoors all day... please pray that he heals soon!

Our First Home

Good news...
Jake and I got a house on base!

It really could not have come at a better time because yesterday was hell and I was two seconds away from getting in the car and driving back to Logan.

Most of you know that Jake got a deep tissue contusion last week at the pool. Well he was feeling better and he's been able to walk on it pretty well...when something baaad happened.

We went to a movie last night (our third in 5 days, so what) and he came back from the bathroom bent over in pain. His hurt leg started convulsing and he couldn't move without screaming. Well, forty-five minutes later, nothing has changed and we have to leave. After tracking down a wheel chair we got him out to the car and to the Bass Baptist Emergency Room.

That's when things got real bad.
I have never met a more worthless and negligent hospital staff in my life!
The front desk lady was a complete... you know what I want to say.
The nurse and PA took an hour to get Jake any medicine.
I have never been so upset. My husband is crying in pain and I'm crying with frustration and she's treating us like he bumped his funny bone. And if one more bratty southern lady calls me "honey"... ooohhh... there will be hell.

Anyway, after five freezing hours in the hospital we went home. Jake woke up hardly feeling better, so it's back to the crutches and a leg brace. But then we got a call... not just a call, a house offer! Such a blessing. I think it was Heavenly Father's way of showing that he's still looking out for us.

It's a three bedroom, one bathroom house with a garage and a laundry room. Yay! The couple living there let us look around and we couldn't be more thrilled. Anything is a step up from a basement apartment with no dishwasher, no disposal and no natural light. Man I cannot wait to have our stuff back and buy a cute little puppy! So many things to look forward to and it can only get better from here... thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers.

It's Getting Harder and Harder to Breathe

The heat wave continues... I mean, we're hitting record breaking highs here.
This is how I what I do to occupy my indoors time:

1. Vampire Diaries. Season Two.
Yeah it's super cheesy but sometimes the costumes are great.

2. Maroon 5
I had a dream that he was in love with me and now it's got me on a M5 kick.
Have you ever noticed how ridiculous their music videos are? The sexual tension is thick enough to choke a horse.

3. Shark Week.
Sharks and Andy Samberg? I'll accept.

I did finally make my visit to the Fitness Center here on base. So I think I'll get this toosh back to the gym. Maybe I'll finally see what this Rumba bidness is all about... even though I feel that brownies, gushers, and Vamp Di is a much healthier way to spend my time, I should probably change it up.

Enid

Welcome to Enid, Oklahoma.
A city full of brown grass, crazy accents, and 100+ temperatures.
Jake and I arrived Sunday afternoon and my first thought wasn't "where are all of the mountains?" I was expecting flat. It was, where is all of the color? where is all the grass? everything is dead. every park, every yard, dry and brown. Every time I walk into the sun, my mind and body have one objective. Get inside. Get inside now. Poor cripple Jake gets left behind while I am speed walking to get some A/C as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately, inside for us is not that great. It's called Temporary Living Facilities. And it's actually a step up from where we were suppose to be at. Which is sad and slightly scary. It has A/C and Cable, so really I shouldn't complain. But the full sized bed, crying toddler next door, and tiny bathroom... its the worst. Jake and I have way too long of limbs to be sharing a full. One of these nights someone is going to be clipped in the face with an elbow and it won't be pretty. They told us we can only stay in the TLF's for two weeks before we get kicked out and put in the motel type rooms. Our fault for not reserving far enough ahead of time. Which makes my desire for a house all the more urgent.

This brings me to housing. We visited the housing office yesterday and luckily they are super nice. I'll probably become her best friend so I can try and weasel my way to the top. haha.We are higher up on the list then we thought, but it still gives me little hope. So I will probably stop by everyday to see if it changes. I really don't want an apartment.

But for now, we will stay in our temporary home and pray for a base home and autumn weather. Jake is slowly completing his in processing tasks. He has two weeks to complete them before they start assigning him random duties. Now the trick is just finding things for me to do...

Infatuation with Fall

Looking at the sale section on Anthropologie.com is never a good idea. Especially with all of this stuck inside on the computer, doing nothing, needing uplifting crap that is going on... and everyone knows clothes are what make me happy. Correction, Anthropologie clothes make me happy.
So tonight I am fashion hungry, especially with these delicious fall picks.

Hunter Green... Pockets... Lantern Sleeves... I pine.
Can't you see it with a brown skinny belt, Navy blue tights, and flats?
I desperately need some skirts in this clothes sticking to your skin weather, this one has the flow, length, and colors that I love. Seriously, why do they make all skirts so short?
And with this blouse on top...? Once again, the sleeves. LOVE.

Jake and I were able to see a lot more of Enid today. The power went out on base in the morning and everything was closed down. It didn't come back on until late afternoon. So staying inside or outside was impossible. Therefore, we resorted to shopping and movie watching off base. Man does that heat and confusion get us edge. But all ended well with Papa Johns, Ranier Cherries, Capri Sun, and Bachelorette. More on our time here tomorrow!

Beardy

from Mountain Man to 2nd Lieutenant...
Jakey boy's an Officer.
