it's a wonder at all

The weekend started off with "The Great Clothing Exchange"
Some of us girls from the ward brought some old clothes that
we didn't want and exchanged them, it was so much fun.
I got some fantastic shorts for summer and lots of striped tops. For FREEEEEE!
Hailey made some great snacks and I made sopapilla cheescakes.
Sooo good! I only used two rolls of cresents, one original, one reduced fat.
I halved the cream cheese filling and used 1/3 fat cream cheese.
I'm telling you, it was amazing. I want to make it again today.
So get your friends together and have a clothing exchange. It's a beautiful thing.

Love is Patient

So you are there..!
Sometimes I get needy and beg to hear your comments.
It makes me feel loved and stuff. So keep them coming :)
I didn't mean to make such a big deal out of my 'big change.'
Sorry to say, I am not pregnant...
I am starting beauty school in March!
And there it is.
Lazy Courtney, no more.

Five Things I learned This Week:

1. When you start a day exercising instead of watching TV,
you can actually be productive!
2. I cry a lot when I'm angry. Especially when the thrift store
sells your piece of furniture to someone else! Ahhhh
3. I spoil my dog too much, probably because I think of her as my child. Yikes.
4. I should have started reading conference talks a long time ago.
5. My husband is a very patient man who loves me a lot.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
I'll be spending mine making Valentines.
And this. And this.

insta-life

I'm Instagram obsessed lately. Which is weird. Because I thought I was over that app. Guess not!

We're in the middle of another week in Oklahoma,
a good week so far.
I've got my sights on a big change.
Something I've been wanting to do for a while but have been
too much of a baby to make it happen.

It makes me excited. and a bit nervous.
Which is good, because I do not attempt scary things enough.
I sit inside my comfortable little world slowly becoming a hermit.
But loner no more! I am done with being stagnant.

I also bought a fantastic glass display case at the thrift store yesterday,
I have big plans to transform it into beautiful television stand this month!

Today my favorite artist came out with yet another inspiring album.
Her voice constantly leaves me feeling vulnerable and teary.
Which is what good music should do.
Get yourself some Ingy today.

The End.
How about you leave me a comment now?
That would be pretty great.

my husband, the jet pilot.

Meet Jake's first jet.
The 1100 horsepower T-6.
Yesterday was a big day for my love,
one he has patiently awaited for several months.
He felt great the entire ride... until his instructor pilot took control.
Then he dry heaved nine times. hahaaaa I could never be a pilot.
Overall the entire experience was great. I'm really excited for him to start flying,
it's pretty crazy looking up at that sky thinking one of the
crazy fast planes above you could be your husband.

Check out Jake and I's new favorite Youtube video:
five people on one guitar. no big.
my favorite is Brawny man on the right.

harmonic heaven

What a night.
Jake got home around 5:30pm...
I whisked him away and forced him in the car.
(poor guy was stressed out of his mind, 15 days of hell starts today)
I drove us to Tulsa, in the nick of time.
He stayed in the car to study a bit longer and I ran inside Cain's Ballroom.
I barely caught The Staves performance, and it changed my world!
These three sisters have the most haunting harmonies and their sound is so... effortless.
I want to be one of them. British. Beautiful long hair. Perfect style.
Jake joined me for the main event and naturally John and Joy did not disappoint.

My new favorite songs from the evening... get ready to unwind.

We left around 10:30 and stormed the gate at approx 12:00 am.
Was it worth worsening the cold and waking up with a killer concert hangover?

Indeed.

P/S Maizey did wonderfully in surgery.
She bounced back like she always does. I hope to pick her up sometime today :)

The Civil Wars

Guess who's going to to see The Civil Wars live tonight...
This girl.
It will be a much needed getaway for us...
I'm just praying Jake gets home in time!

lately...

I've been taking lots of instagram photos lately...

This week has had a sloow start.
Jake and I really enjoyed his day off yesterday.
We slept in, ate donuts and orange julius,
babysat Ray, and went to see Sherlock Holmes.

Lately I've felt like I'm in a rut. It could be the lack of employment,
friends, productivity, this irritating cold... you name it, but I finally broke down
and emailed the theatre here in town about wanting to help out with their productions.
I wasn't feeling too hopeful, but I received a voice mail from the box office manager
letting me know that they need help with costuming!

So I'm going in tonight to help out, and I must say I'm a little bit nervous...
It's not like I'm getting paid, but I afraid of failing them somehow.
I am not a seamstress...
Either way, it should be an exciting experience.
Hopefully I'll enjoy it and stay with them for a while!

Maizey goes in to get spayed tomorrow.
Poor girl. I'm feeling a little guilty about it..
taking away her working vagina.
But I just can't handle the breeding. Not for me.

I hope you all had a lovely weekend... thanks for keeping up with our blog
and commenting. It feels like my one connection to the outside world.

sunday Sunday SUNDAY

1. A Pancake Snack
2. A breezy walk around base
3. Our adorable neighbor baby
4. My Top 3 Golden Globe Dresses

With the exception of the wicked cold that's destroying my body, it was a perfectly enjoyable Sunday.
We took pleasure in...
Teaching our four year olds about being a child of God.
Devouring a White Pizza from CPK. (Available at your local Grocery Store) Yum!
and Playing Ticket to Ride with our neighbors.

Hostess

Friday, after we left Buffalo Wild Wings,
I had a crazy craving for apple pie. No, I'm not pregnant...
So where does one get apple pie in Enid, OK?
The gas station, of course! Jake thought it was lame idea.
The king sized Snickers ice cream bar changed his mind real quick.
I also grabbed my favorite treat, crumb donuts, for breakfast the next morning.
Looks like my New Years Resolutions are working out quite nicely!

I'm working on creating another blog for fashion, crafts, and such.
I cannot seem to find a name that I like... any suggestions?

P/S If you are getting into blog reading and would like some fun ones to read, here are some recent finds I enjoy:

If I could go back in time and plan my wedding...
My dress would look like this.
Someday I will design dresses like these. Someday...

lonely and bored

How to throw the perfect pity party:
Get yourself some Girl Scout cookies. Samoas if possible.
Then scarf down a couple fruit snacks, some sweet tarts
and maybe some cookies and cream ice cream.
Turn on some Vampire Diaries and cuddle with a cute puppy.
Happy Moping!
Naughty Girl in jail. This barking is driving me insane.
Who I'm missing tonight.

demon dog

Maizey may seem like a sweet, innocent puppy...
But I assure you... she's not.
Oh, and last night the hellion laid down
on our bed and peed.
Right in front of us.
In three different spots.
My worst nightmare...

Maltibull

Maizey has been making lots of new friends lately.
The ones we are most proud of are the bulldogs Vince and Stella.
She has been terrified of them for a long time now, and last weekend she got over it!
Good girl that Maizzle.
She's cute and fluffy on the outside, but get her around a slobbery bulldog
and she can hold her own!
Stella (right) had red and pink marks all over her face from fluff's razor sharp teeth.
I wonder what a bulldog maltipoo mix would look like...

Biscuits and Gravy

If you've ever spent time at the Kearns house you know
what an amazing cook Nancy Kearns is.
I think this is her most popular dish.
Jake has been begging me to make this for him since we moved.
Actually he's been begging me for the last two years of marriage.
So over the holidays I had the opportunity to learn from the master.
Naturally I decided to share it with all of you lucky people.
This is how you make...
Nancy's Famous Biscuits and Gravy!

Grab yourself a pound of Jimmy Dean Sausage and brown it up.
(Nancy's rule, to get the most flavor from your sausage or ground beef, brown it until its nice and golden looking. Almost burnt... but not.)
Then add a stick of butter...
about a half cup of oil...
let the sausage soak up the flavor then take it out.
Add a heaping spoonful of Bouillon to your oil, butter, and sausage leftovers
 (this is what Nancy uses)
Mix that up and add a cup of flour
Scrape all of the sausage goodies from the bottom of the pan and mix them it all together.
put in the left over oil/butter that drained from the sausage
stir some milk in... keep going until the consistency is to your liking.
(it should be nice and creamy when your done)
 Put the sausage back in...
and Voila! you have a delicious gravy!
Pour it over some Pillsbury Grand Biscuits
and serve them to a verrrry happy husband.

Enjoy your best breakfast ever!
