Counting Down

Ohh Idaho was a dream.
We'll miss the loud and squished car rides, the dance offs, the home video parties and doggie battles.
Now on to Christmas and New Years, Kearnsie style.
Late nights, card games, and hide and seek.
It's always a good time.

It's almost 2012! Whoa...

nativity

"Times change; years speed by; but Christmas continues sacred. In this marvelous dispensation of the fulness of times, our opportunities to give of ourselves are indeed limitless, but they are also perishable. There are hearts to gladden. There are kind words to say. There are gifts to be given. There are deeds to be done. There are souls to be saved."
Thomas S. Monson, “The Best Christmas Ever,” Liahona, Dec 2008, 2–6

Please have snow and mistletoe...

Made it to Idaho!
Barely.
Have I mentioned how much I hate traveling? Because I do.
I loath it in every way.
Car, plane, overnight train... I've done it all.
And life would just be so much easier if I could transport
my body to anywhere I wanted to go.
Wouldn't that be lovely?

Happy Birthday to my name twin. My sister.
She's gorgeous. She's got wicked style, and awesome bangs.
Love you Cordy!

I also love this little babe.
Her mom and I had a fantastic afternoon introducing
Reagan to her first H&M shopping experience.
She was a champ.

the freakin weekend

Twas a busy busy weekend.
Friday was date night at chilis
and Walking Dead in bed.
Saturday was play date with Hudson
Cleaning... cleaning... cleaning.
Utah State Aggies game and Ward Social, and a
Couples party with a hot chocolate bar and Scattergories!
Sunday was church and cute Sunbeams who love marshmellows.
Lots of spaghetti and left over donuts leads to napping and hot showers.
Ending the night with Kourtney and Kim.
Ohh how I hate Kim.

Sorry about the lack of photos... it keeps slipping my mind.
I cannot wait until Tuesday! I do hate flying alone...
but I'm looking forward to Panera in OKC and shopping with bestie.

Christmas in one week! Can't wait for some of this sibby action...

remodel

do you like the new look?

it took me way too long to do it.

the republican debate makes me irritated. all politics make me irritated.

I'd choose to be attacked by twelve walkers before I'd choose to watch the debate.

Okay, that's a little melodramatic... but check out their makeup. Holy Moly.

SOO i choose to makeover my blog :) and make jewish apple cake. yuuum.

romney's voice is super low. he'd be a good bass.

I'm doing this tomorrow. So cool.

Lately.

Although I'm grateful for the 63 DEGREE WEATHER we had today, I wish I was on a beach... in Hawaii... sipping a Strawberry Pina Colada.

At least I'm not in the middle of Finals Week. Yuck. A year ago I was near tears over my Survey of Western Theatre final. I have no idea how I passed that class.

I guess eating taco soup and watch new girl will have to do till now...

I want to buy a sparkly headband and cut bangs.

Maybe I should stop beginning my sentences with I...

So instead I'll tell you how Jake is doing! I should do that more often.

Well, he's doing great. He's in phase one of pilot training also known as "academics." It doesn't last long, but it's nice and not super stressful for him. He's passed all of his tests so far, and to pass you have to score higher than 85 percent. Pretty intense. If you fail more than three you get kicked out of the program... eek. He has a fantastic class who studies with him and an awesome classmate, Will, who takes him to class in the mornings so I can sleep in :) Him and his family have become great friends and neighbors. Today he brought Jake and I over Dr Pepper... how nice is that? They also have the 5 mo old Labradoodle who has become Mazzle's best friend. You've seen her before in pictures.

After we get back from Christmas he'll have about three weeks left of academics before he hits the "flight line." That's when things get crazy busy for him. So we use up our spare time watching The Walking Dead and learning the following songs on the guitar...

(introduced to me by kiki)

and this (if I ever get a piano, cough cough)

Have a good night! One week until I'm home.... and ten days till CHRISTMAS!

snoozin and treats

Let me introduce you to my new friend.
When Jake worked at Olive Garden we loooved eating the Five Cheese Ziti.
At least once a week.
So to save on money we tried and tried to find a sauce that tastes the same.
2 years later... we found it. At Walmart.
SOO good. I tossed it on some cooked Ziti with diced tomatoes, parsley,
italian bread crumbs, and parm cheese.
Then I baked it for thirty minutes and it was delish.
Make it today!

Our Sunbeams were really on one today...
They are just too funny.
Clark, the blonde boy one the end, sounds like Marcel the Shell.
Who's Marcel?

it's guy love

Another lovely family photo taken by our talented cousin Madison Herbas.
She is the best! Check out more photos at her new blog.
We also found out that our good friends, Isaac and Jen, are coming to Vance next year for training!
Despite their best efforts they got stuck with us in Enid and we cannot wait until they join us.
Jake's beyond excited to reunite with his "chocolate bear."
Confused? See here.

snow pup

We woke up to snow yesterday. It was lovely.
Maizey enjoyed her first snowy experience... a little too much.
These were taken right before I let her off her leash and spent the next hour trying to retrieve her.
The word "COME" means nothing to her. We bribe her with treats, we look her in the eye and she just lies down. Or runs in the opposite direction. It's a lot of fun.

 2 weeks until I'm home!
Fort making... four wheel sledding... present opening. AH!

Christmas Crafting!

They're done...
They're snowy...
THEY'RE MASON JAR SNOW GLOBES!

Here is Anthropologie's version I saw last month.... Here is my version made last night.

My supplies, all bought at Hobby Lobby. I love those fifty percent discounts....
this project was less than five dollars to make and I'm happy with the way they turned out.
I molded some styrofoam to fit inside the jars, glued the trees in place, covered the base with crumbled styrofoam and tacky/glitter glue. Then I painted the trees with silver glitter glue and sprinkled them with the "snow" glitter. They looked perfectly frosted and fluffy! I added a few mini pinecones for extra cuteness.
These other Christmas crafts kept me pretty busy last week. I made some pinecone ornaments and garland. I just love pinecones..,
Then I attempted a no sew ruffle tree skirt. I had only enough fabric for half of the skirt and the hot glue was highly irritating... but it turned out okay for now. I'll try again next year :)

This morning Maze and I had a photo sesh. You're shocked, I know. She's just too cuteeeee.
Then Jake and I put up some sparkly snowflakes.
Our neighbors are all super into Christmas lights, so I attempted to do the same.
It was freeeezing but we did it! And we might do more tomorrow... watch out.

Happy Christmas folks!

sick and stuff

This cold is rockin my world folks.

I can't remember a time I slept well.

Longest week ever.

Our fridge broke. Melted ice cream everywhere.. We got a new one. That's a new dishwasher and a new fridge in a week!

But today...

Look familiar? Yeah it happens every time it rains. But it never gets old...

Maizey played with her new friend Piper today. She's a mini Labradoodle that looks like a brown shag rug. They had a crazy fun time chasing each other around the house.

I finally finished the Mason Jar Snow Globes. Pictures tomorrow!

Ankle Biter

Sometimes the fluffy muffy wakes me up at 8 am on a Saturday. Not cool. Specially when I was up half the night with a throat itching cold. This week was a long one...

So here I sit, listening to the rain (wishing it was snow) and staring at the Christmas tree. I think I'll go grab some donuts in my robe. Maybe I'll watch "Meet Me in St Louis" after that. I wish we had a Jamba in Enid. Orange Dream Machine would be real nice. I could home make it... I am, after all, a Orange Julius Master Mixer. So much for putting up Christmas lights outside. My house is a mess. Harry Connick really does have da best Christmas music. Michael Buble is pretty smashing as well. Maizey stop eating my purse. Maybe I'll go back to bed for a half an hour....

Lately Maze and I go for walks down to the park on base. No one is there because it's frizzin outside, so I let her off her leash and she loooves it.

Little wabbit, tricks are for kids.
a frothy white winter sky reminds me of home...

and don't forget to add the three best holiday ROMCOM's to your movie list!

1. The Holiday... duh   2. While you were sleeping.   3. Serendipity.

p.s. How cute are these two..? Seriously.
wittle sister is twitterpated!

Well, pucker up and kiss it, Whoville.

Tis the season... and I'm loving it.
Yes, the Christmas spirit has hit me hard.
Probably because I don't have school or work to distract me...
Jake and I went to Lowes and picked out our fresh cut Christmas tree.
It's a bit fuller than I like but she's still a beauty. Much more work to be done.
Tomorrow I will make some Mason Jar Snow Globes!

A Kearns Thanksgiving

T'was a classic Kearns Thanksgiving.
The boys played their Turkey Bowl while the girls made their pies...
The babes were extra adorable.
The decor was planned to perfection, with fresh flowers arranged by yours truly!
The food was AMAZING and the pies... oh boy.

Black Friday was insane to say the least. 8 hours of shopping and my body completely gave out. (no seriously I vomited twice). It was a first. I couldn't even gather the energy to enjoy Ikea the next day...
The doggies Little Maizey and Boxer Tag became fast friends...
The crazy adults got together for authentic BBQ and crazy laser tag.

It was a splendid holiday. After being marooned in OK for months, it was amazing to
be with our family again. Under one roof. For days. We definitely took it for granted before.
Now I'm slowly recovering from it all... back to real life.
Both of us caught colds over the weekend, so I'm having a hard time not being extra lazy,
or even getting in the shower...
or getting off the couch...
Good thing it's Cyber Monday.
LET THE CHRISTMAS SHOPPING BEGIN!!!!

Gratitude

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Jake and I are having a fantastic time in Dallas eating smoked turkey and banana cream pie. More pictures to come:)

A Good Day

Starts with a Steakburger with cheese and a Pumpkin Pie Concrete
Isn't he a hunk?
Then I was super productive for the first time since we moved here
It all ended with a gorgeous sleeping baby...  (seen below)
Sometimes I think I could do this whole momma thing :)

DALLAS TOMORROW!
