dance parties

Sometimes when daddy's gone we have dance parties to keep the depression away.
These songs have been on repeat.

Also, if you're a fan of Vampire Diaries, check out Reign on the CW.
So juvenile... but deliciously addicting.

Tuesday Tunes

When ridiculous politicians make you want to throw your tennis shoe at the TV, turn it off
and listen to some fantastic new music... then take a hot shower.
Chocolate cake also helps...

Some music. Because it makes me happy.

New Sara music, Eeeeek!

Dear Phoenix, thanks for the new album, even though I'll never get sick of this song.

A while back, Jake and I went and saw Silver Linings Playbook. Loved the movie, loved the music. Especially this song. I was SHOCKED to find out it is a woman singing it! Crazy good.

Also, one throwback for my mom.

Happy hump day everyone.
I'm ready for the weekend.

Fashion Friday

Did you watch the CMAs last night?
I'm just loving Taylor's style lately.
She's growing up.

How about that awkward moment when Brad joked about her Kennedy boyfriend,
not knowing that they had just broken up? Yikes.

Music... Thursday?

Grey's Anatomy, you killed me tonight.
Ugh.

Music Monday

Mat Kearney + Ingrid Michaelson. Nothing better.
And I'm loving this Passenger song... He's got a weird James Blunt thing going on
but I'll embrace it.

Tuesday Tunes

Jake found this song last week and it's been blasting in our car ever since.
It's also featured in my soon to be favorite movie (see below).
Read the book with me!

Jake and I will now only be referred to as The Slut and The Falcon ;)
Tomorrow I fly home! Can't wait.

Tuesday Tunes

Today my life changed.

Missy Higgins finally graced us with another album.

It's about freaking time.

No seriously, her last one came out FIVE years ago.

"Everyone's Waiting" is definitely going to be on repeat this week.

Enjoy!

Music Monday

My favorite tunes this week! Thanks Stela for sharing The Head And The Heart with me :)
They make me want to curl up in a blanket on a beach in front of a camp fire. Sigh...

This is what my summer sounds like...

Music Monday

Here's some music from the Fun. concert last Friday. It was epic.
(and loud and long and late)
Maybe it was the seven year olds running around
(who brings their tiny children to these things?)
 or the crazy moshing teens
(do you realize how awkward you look when you jump and throw your sweaty hair around?)
but I think we're getting a little too old for that stuff.
(My legs and ears were screaming and sore for days.)
And really, would it be so hard to get some sort of bleachers?

p.s. Thanks for all of your kind comments on our recording.
I'm sure we'll be hearing from Enid's best record labels any day now...
But really, they made my day, for real.
There were smiles on my face. Big ones. Shy ones.
I was really hesitant to put it up,
but this blog needed something new.

We shot for the sky.

Sometimes we jam
and sometimes my mother guilts us into recording it.
Forgive us for the imperfections. We're amateurs.
Happy late birthday mum.
I promise you'll get the rest of your present. Sometime.

Tuesday Tunes

Get ready for some power house women ya'll.

1. Ingrid and stage makeup... two of my favorite things in one music video.

2. Sara B. released a new EP right in time for our road trip to Dallas... she's great.

3. Haley I want your curly hair and your smokey pipes, the end.

my new prescription

Well the cold that was on the up and up has now made a triumphant comeback with a throat itching cough.

So here I am, confined to my couch, (lets be honest, that's usually where I end up anyway) desperately trying to suck on Ricola instead of the leftover Easter candy. At least I managed to make dinner at 11:30 this morning because I knew I wouldn't want to later.

On a lighter note, The Neon Trees were on Ellen yesterday and they were fantastic! I had no idea they were Provo Mormons. Yes I know I'm probably way behind on that fact, but there it is.

Hope your day is filled with sunshine and laughter and not tissues and cough drops :)

Music Monday

Alright, Jake and I might be a tad obsessed with The Civil Wars.
This is the latest song we are learning.
Such a great, haunting twist on a classic.

I'm loving my new Pioneer Woman cookbook.
Tonight I tried her Bean and Beef Burrito.
It was deliciously easy.

Counting all different ideas driftin away...

Oh Birdy. You've done it again.

I'm enamored with this album.

She's fifteen and already a brilliant musician.

You can also find her on the Hunger Games Soundtrack,

which I also bought this week... whoops!

Just can't help myself.

Sometimes I dream of writing music on the piano.

I'd love to dream up a melody then watch it come to life with my skinny fingers.

Ten years later I'm kicking myself for quitting piano lessons.

Something About Them

My lovely childhood friends Ali and Christina Christensen
released their EP on iTunes yesterday. So cool.
They are truly the most amazing girls inside and out.
Naturally I bought it straight away and now I can't stop listening to it.
They always move me to tears...
Please support them by buying it today!

All grown up doing their first music video!

Performing the National Anthem at The New York Jets game.

Music Monday

Found this beauty on a commercial the other day.
I just love her voice. Makes me happy.

Loved the Grammys.
At least the hour that I watched.
Adele made me cry a few times but this Whitney Houston
dedication really got me choked up.
Tragic, really.

Did you see T Swift's dress? How very Downton Abbey of her...

Music Monday

Guys, I just can't get enough of this group OR this song.

These are the groups that we saw perform in OKC last Saturday...

Sorry I've been absent...
I will blog lots tomorrow :)
Have a lovely evening!
