And the winner is...

Jessica Chastain in Armani and Stacy Keibler in Naeem Kahn
My favorites. In case you were wondering.
I just love all of those sparkly patterns!

And of course this was my favorite moment.
I did not expect Les Mes to win best picture.
This performance and Anne's win was all I needed.

Oscar Night

The Oscars are this weekend. Yes!
This year won't be quite as exciting seeing that we'll be in a hotel room
with no friends, DVR or fake Oscar ballots. Sigh...
but Kiki-Leeky had a fab idea, and I'm copying it pronto.
What I'd wear to the Oscars.
(Best Costume Design, anyone?)

It's a toss up between this soft blue Jenny Packham dress and this peachy Elie Saab number.
(Lets be honest. I'd probably want to design my own dress. In a perfect world.)
With either dress I would choose a very slicked back and fresh faced approach to hair and make up.
Afterwards my husband and I would party hop with our best friends Emily Blunt and John Krasinski
and dance until dawn. A girl can dream right?

Pan-America

Hmm can you tell the difference?
The Capitol is closer than we think.
(shudders).

a piece in their games

I get a bad migraine every six months.

I started getting them when I was three or four.
I received a brain scan when I was fifteen.
They have been the bane of my existence.

What I can't understand, is why I never seem to get them while I'm sitting home doing nothing.
I always, always get them on important trips and vacations.
I've been waiting to see The Hunger Games for over a year and Saturday was my day.

I guess the excitement was enough to mindlessly take in too much sugar and not enough protein,
because by the time we got to the theater I could feel the headache coming to destroy my lovely day.
A few hours later, I'm throwing up on the side of the highway. Lovely. When we finally get home, we open the door to find our puppy had left us all sorts of presents in the house. Jake took her outside and after he brings her in, she piddles. On our bed. Awesome. That's when I curl up in a little ball on the shower floor and wait to die.

Despite the light sensitivity and nausea, I really enjoyed The Hunger Games. We were able to see it in the nicest theater in OK, complete with gold curtains and a massive screen! I thought the film was short and sweet, capturing all of important moments and emotions of the book. There were some small things that confused me (pit bull muttations killing Thresh? two HG hosts? Haymitch's small and overly sober role?) but over all I was content and pleased. I think I'll see again today.

Here are some photos from our weekend!

Oscar Fashion

Oscars have come and gone!
We had a lovely little party here with
Minnie's "Cream Pie", The Artist "Black and White" Brownies,
and The Descendents "Hawaiian Lava Flow" Daiquiris.
Jake won the ballot contest for the second year in a row by guessing twelve awards,
and I followed closely behind by guessing a measly six of the nominations.
Lame.

And my favorite dresses were...
1. Penelope Cruz. A Modern Day Latino Grace Kelly.
2. Octavia Spencer. That's right girl. Get your modest on.
3. Kristen Wiig. I don't know why but I love the simplicity here.

And a close runner up...
The Artist's Berenice Bejo.
I LOVE THE COLOR. Mint lover for life.
Not a huge fan of the structure. But still gorgeous.
*random fact: Berenice got her start as the lady in waiting in A Knight's Tale.

Thanks for all of your nice comments on our photo shoot yesterday!

Well, pucker up and kiss it, Whoville.

Tis the season... and I'm loving it.
Yes, the Christmas spirit has hit me hard.
Probably because I don't have school or work to distract me...
Jake and I went to Lowes and picked out our fresh cut Christmas tree.
It's a bit fuller than I like but she's still a beauty. Much more work to be done.
Tomorrow I will make some Mason Jar Snow Globes!

Here are my Top Ten Christmas Movies:

1. Christmas Vacation.
2. Elf.
3. White Christmas
3.5 Holiday Inn
4. Grumpy Old Men
5. How The Grinch Stole Christmas
6. The Santa Claus
7. Home Alone
8. A Christmas Story
9. Shop Around The Corner
9.5 It's A Wonderful Life
10. Miracle on 34th Street

Spoiler Alert

Ten Things I Hated About Breaking Dawn:
1. The continuous background music.
I can't hear what you're saying with all of the cheesy flutes going!
2. The makeup. So fake. So white.
You aren't the nasty Addams family, you're the sexy Cullens.
3. Bella's wedding dress fabric. It looks like my temple dress.
Which isn't really a bad thing, but I think Ivory would have been nice.
4. The blond cousins. I mean what the random...awkward...stupid.
Irina was looking rough.
5. The sex scene. I knew it would be awkward, you knew it would be awkward...and it was.
6. Wolf Telepathy. I know that has to be hard to translate on screen but
"I AM THE GRANDSON OF EPHRAIM. I WILL NOT BOW DOWN,"
left me bent over in uncontrollable laughter.
7. The birth. "Bella look at our adorable baby girl! Oh, you're dying?
Let me love on her for a little while longer, then we'll get to saving your decaying body."
8. The imprint. So... lame. As was Renesme's CGI face.
Nice try guys! Normal baby would have been better.
9. Bella's transformation. If the love of your existence just died would you
leave her body uncovered and alone in a pretty blue dress? Come on Edward...
10. Over all I thought Taylor's performance was dull and boring. Where was the rage?
Edward had more emotion than you. What the?!

Haha overall it was alright, it followed the movie pretty closely and the scenery was lovely.
I guess I'm just used to Vampire Diaries normal looking characters who know how to act.

A Sunbeam

Excellent weekend folks.
We went to the Barbecue Joint in Pondcreek, OK
(authentic and small town to say the least)
and taught our Sunbeams for the first time, they're hilarious.
I also got around to painting my desk, more on that tomorrow.
Hunger Games trailer comes out tomorrow... pretty excited!
Hope you had a good weekend :)

Trailer Park

This is Glenn Close
... And that's fine.

 And Meryl Streep...
these are some crazy transformations people.

loving this trio.

I just have a hankering for a new period film.

After our second failed attempt to see Footloose, Jake and I went to Tower Heist (not bad..)
and decided it would be too much of a hassle to take Craze Maze home before we went.
So we took her...
I just figured if I can swindle fountain drinks and bags of candy
how hard can a four pound pup be?
It wasn't... we just covered me self up with a coat and held her real close.
she slept on my lap the entire time and didn't make a peep.
What a great dog!
I wonder if anyone has ever tried that before...

We came back to a delightful thunderstorm and The Sing Off.
Once again, if you haven't watched every song Penatonix has on youtube, do it now.
I love them so much. It's weird.

Tomorrow's craft?
making my desk look like this.
maybe if it looks cute and organized,
I'll actually use my sewing machine.

too-chay

Went and saw Footloose the other night!
I loved it.
Julianne Hough was gorgeous.
Willard... hilarious.
I would suggest seeing it.
It didn't try to steal the original's glory,
it only brought it back with a modern twist.
I think I'll buy the soundtrack...

Tommy

Last night Jake and I traveled the long distance to Stillwater, OK to see the movie Warrior.
It was a 139 minutes of heart wrenching movie magic.
Every actor was amazing but Tom Hardy... Wow. Brilliant.
(Ashley Landon if you're reading this, this guy is your husband's celebrity twin)
I don't have one negative thing to say about the film and that is a miracle.
Has anyone noticed the ridiculous amount of commercials they show before movies?
TEN minutes of commercials and TEN minutes of previews before the movie started!
Give me a break. I do not pay ten dollars to see that.

I found this on pinterest the other day...
It's exactly what I needed.
I have a major problem with comparing myself to others.
It usually happens when I spend too much time on Facebook.
I look at other peoples lives and the fun they're having and get all depressed about my situation.
Pathetic! I have so much be happy about and desperately need to gain some perspective.
I mean, whats better than watching your husband yell at the TV for hours and hours?
Man I love college football.
...I guess I'll just read this over and over again until it sticks.

The Gimp is Asleep.

Guess what comes out tomorrow...? The Help.
I think I'll grab some Butterfinger Minis and see the 4 o'clock show all by myself..!
Because I think it might be while until I let Jake be my movie partner again. That was just too stressful. And I intend to fully enjoy this movie. Every second.

Goodnight everyone... The doc finally prescribed Jake some Valium. If this doesn't get him to sleep then someone pleeease shoot me in the morning. I'll pay you.

Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all, those who live without love.

Alright, so I'm no HP Superfan... but the final movie was epic. I know you've seen that about five thousand times on facey but I thought I'd tell you myself. I was completely satisfied with the entire film.

I am no bird and no net ensnares me. I am a free human being with an independent will.

So Jake and I went and saw ANOTHER movie tonight. I just love the dollar theater. And wow...I have not been this excited about a movie since Pride and Prejudice... you must see it.
Scenery... Breathtaking.
Costumes... Lovely.
Story... uhh Fantastic!
I now plan on reading the book.
Go see Jane Eyre!

(Love the bonnet and shawl)

I hate you Christina Aguilera.

Look people, I found him before The Voice, okay? Back when he had eyebrows. If you want to hear more, I love his song "In Your Hands."

On another note... Jake and I went and saw "Something Borrowed" this evening. SO STUPID. Ethan was the only good person in that show. And the Tom Cruise wanna be? I'd punch him if I saw him.

Sebastian Shaw

Jacob and I went to see X Men with some friends last night and if you haven't seen it, I feel the need to warn you about a couple of things...
Kevin Bacon plays the Villain.

Seriously? Who thought of that. Not only does he waltz around wearing cheesy sixties apparel but we have to fear him while wearing the hideous Magneto Mask? Paaaleaseee. It just seemed to go down hill from there.

However...
Michael Fassbender has me rather smitten... he's a sort of classic handsome that you haven't seen since the days of Cary Grant, Gregory Peck and George Peppard. Makes me want to see Jane Eyre even more!

Freedom

Not having classes is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I can already feel the stress and tension leaving my home. And high 60's for weather? Ummm love that! I finally got around to making these beauties
I love parties....
AND I even started a new book!
Coming out this August!
Oh, and if you haven't seen this yet...
You must. I think I'll see it for the second time this week...
Oh, and you have to try this recipe... SO GOOD!
