One Year Ago.

One year ago we arrived in Enid, Oklahoma to start our brand new
exciting life in the United States Air Force.
It's been a challenging year but I'm glad we took that huge leap together.
Being on our own in OK has taught us:

1. How to be adults. It's a work in progress.

2. We took the beauty of Utah for granted. And the weather.

3.  Putting yourself out there and making friends can be hard.

4. Non Mormons are awesome too.

5. How to lean on each other when life sucks.

Before we left, I thought to myself...
"Oh, I love to travel. This will be a piece of cake."
I had no idea how much I'd miss my family and friends back home.
I'm grateful to my Heavenly Father for bringing new friends into our
life who can relate to the hardships of serving in the military.
We feel very blessed to be surrounded by such extraordinary people.

In case you missed it.

Tuesday Tunes

Jake found this song last week and it's been blasting in our car ever since.
It's also featured in my soon to be favorite movie (see below).
Read the book with me!

Jake and I will now only be referred to as The Slut and The Falcon ;)
Tomorrow I fly home! Can't wait.

telegrams

It was a caaraaazy week.
Our friends Allie and Brad came to stay
and we were sad to see them go!
They are such lovely people.
Our class just isn't the same without them.

An hour after they left, my friends and I were off
to OKC for American Idol auditions.
With ten thousand people, it was chaotic to say the least.

The next day I was back in the city for Dark Knight Rises.
I must say, I didn't enjoy it as much as I would have liked.
I was still exhausted from the day before, and I guess
some of the shooting scenes were a little too real for me.
I just imagined myself in that theater in Colorado and
became really sad and a bit frightened.
I think I'll wait a little while to see it again.

I'm glad that I have a couple of days to recuperate before heading
to Utah for my 2.5 week trip. I am going to miss my husband like crazy.
The man needs a vacation!
I feel pretty selfish taking such a long one and leaving him here alone.
Air Force, why can't you give my man a little time off!?

There's my venting for the evening... hope you all had a lovely weekend!

1. Toner pilot.
2. Brad sketched this of us!
3. Showing up for AI auditions
4. Waiting to sing.
6. Three hour movies are exhausting.
7. Learning new songs and growing massive foreheads.
8. Duck, Duck, Goose!
9. Bachelorette Finale Party.

Today my life changed.

Missy Higgins finally graced us with another album.

It's about freaking time.

No seriously, her last one came out FIVE years ago.

"Everyone's Waiting" is definitely going to be on repeat this week.

Enjoy!

Five Year Flashback

Five years ago I was a high school graduate.
High on the hope of college life and
basking in the freedom from my parents rules.
Those were the days...
Apparently most of those days were spent in the car.
 Planning pranks, Cruising 17th,
and looking down at the city from the windmilled hills.

I miss my friends. and my skinnier body. and my clear skin.

Music Monday

My favorite tunes this week! Thanks Stela for sharing The Head And The Heart with me :)
They make me want to curl up in a blanket on a beach in front of a camp fire. Sigh...

Fourth Flashback

It's days like this that I start aching for the homeland.
Idaho Falls is a special place on the Fourth with its
jam packed parade, delicious barbeques,
and massive fireworks show.

Enid hardly compares. Shocking, I know.
The Fourth just isn't the same without homemade bombs
and Brady's illegal fireworks.

Here are some people I miss today...

I want you back.

When summer heat strikes there's nothing better than a Fuzzy Navel sno cone to cool you down. Now that we've found a fantastic stand, we'll probably start making daily visits. If you're wondering about the awkward photo of my husband... listen to this song. He loves it. Ugh. I hate it.

I want my baby back.

The BAR-B-Q Joint, an Enid hotspot and home of the best Baby Back Ribs around. Its truly a local treasure. We're glad the Cruzans could try it out before they head up on north to Logan town. Lucky ducks. Hope you're having a lovely weekend!
