a true friend...

Its been an interesting and emotional week... that's family time for you. I feel like such a baby with Jake gone. His absence has taught me a lot of myself and my life. Pretty deep for a couple of weeks in a basement apartment, eh? Anyway, I'd like to share some of my new found knowledge with my blog readers, whoever you may be.

I've always had an interesting relationship with my sister Lauren. We're polar opposites, don't look a like (okay maybe in the above picture, but I'm pretty sure its the bangs and the missing teeth.. not to mention the outfit), she loves sports and sweats, I love shopping and skirts. So growing up was a bit of a challenge. We never really saw eye to eye on much. There were many fights, many "I hate you's" from her and a few scratches and one bloody nose from me (it was well deserved, alright). But even with all of the "I can't wait till you're out of my life's" we ended up at the same college and the same time. And she has become my best friend here.

When I got married I lost A LOT of my social life. Alright, all of it. No one really calls the married girl to go shopping or to the gym. But Lauren was there for me. She'd take me out for taco tuesday, she'd watch Olsen twin movies with me, she'd go to Michaels for art supplies, she'd pick me up from class, and she'd listen to me. It seems so funny to me that after eighteen years of living in the same house and hardly speaking, we could become such good friends so fast. With both her and Jake gone this summer I've finally realized how much I need her in my life. It goes to show that friends come and go but your family is always there. I'm so proud of the woman she's become, and I'm really excited to see what else she'll do with her life. She has a very bright future, and she's single... so boys, Watch Out!

  3. Hi Courtney! I was happy to see your comment on my blog. I am adding yours to my list of favs. I miss you guys. I actually remember when you guys had those photos taken with the little ladders and the rolled up jeans. I think about you girls every time Isaiah makes me put on Shrek and I remember the dance we made up to "All Star" like 10 years ago. Crazy how time flies.
